52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown and The Paper Players

Last one for me tonight, lol. I've gone a bit craft crazy today.
Over at 52CC Throwdown, the challenge is to make anything but a card, tag or ATC.
After checking The Paper Players Challenge, they have a TIC TAC TOE. I chose Christmas/Bling/Ribbon. I decided that combining the two challenges, I would be able to make a Christmas Gift Box.

I have used my Simply Scored to make my box which ends up at around 6 x 6 inches. I have covered the lid by using Festival of Prints DSP. I have embossed the red panel with my Snowflake folder. The sentiment was stamped with Real Red and is from my Sassy Salutations set. Strings of 'bling' have been added at the top and bottom of the blue panel and then one in each corner. A big red bow to finish it all off.

Inkspiration Sketch Challenge for DT call

I've done the challenges a bit out of order but I really wanted to give the sketch a go over at Mynette's DT call.

Here is my card -

This is the sketch to follow

I am a bit fond of Very Vanilla cardstock at the moment.. :) When using it with my Simply Scored, it just looks very classy.

New challenge blog - Inkspirational DT call

Mynette is creating a new challenge blog!! Is she crazy? No way! I love the idea that she has come up with so I am going to start creating some projects that she would like to see to help decide on her new Design Team. Isn't the name pretty cool too???

The first challenge is to CASE one of Mynette's cards which is featured in the pic below

I decided to just try making a Rosette flower with my Simply Scored. I'm pretty sure I haven't done it the correct way, but it worked for the time being ;)

I was really happy with the colours and how it all came together.

Now, there are four challenges that need to be in to Mynette for the DT call, so I will have to get cracking on the others. Ta, Ta for now.

CASology Week 12 & Technique Tuesday

The cue word at CASology this week is - SHOE.
I received some goodies that I had purchased off ebay a couple of weeks ago and the lovely lady had popped in some freebies for me. One of them was a die cut of a shoe so I knew I should use it in this challenge lol. The next thing I thought of was that it HAD to be used with the Faux Leather technique as taught by Mynnette. I've done a few cards using this technique and I personally think it rocks!
Here is my card -

I have used Very Vanilla cardstock which I have scored using the diagonal plate on my Simply Scored. The sentiment is from my Petite Pairs set. The flower at the toe of the shoe is from IBS. The pearls are from Stampin' Up.

I actually took photos as I was going this time! Fancy that!
This is the cut out of the shoe which I have covered with little pieces of masking tape.

I have then used my brayer and inked it up with Concord Crush.

Then I covered the whole shoe with clear embossing powder and used my heat gun to set. This gives the finished product a real cool glossy finish (which may not show too well in the pics).

I hope you pop over to these challenges to join in the fun!

Addicted to {Spring}

The latest challenge over at Addicted to Stamps is a Theme Challenge and the theme is

SPRING

We are well into Spring here in Australia. There are a lot of Autumn challenges going around so it might be a little refreshing for you to add some bright colours to your projects.

Here is my card -

The flowers I have hand-made. Yes! I hand-made them!! For my first attempt I was really happy. I had just purchased a Scalloped Rolled Rose die. I used my Paper Piercing tool to wrap the paper around then once I had finishd, I used the tool to help bend the leaves down a little. The little butterfly turned out better than expected, too. I have a new stamp and die set (Hero Arts) but I just stamped the small butterfly with Memento Black on some DP and then used the die to punch it out. A little crochet trim was wrapped around the 'bunch' and secured with the butterfly using double sided tape.

The Design Team have once again come up with some wonderful work! Check them out over at the Challenge Blog! Don't forget the DT call is still going!!

52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown - Embellishments

Hey there, I decided to pop over to 52CC Throwdown as I haven't made a Chrissy card for a little while and was having withdrawals.
So, I get over to the challenge and then I'm "OMG, not Eyelets"!!!!!
Farout, brussell sprout! What am I going to do now? I have little tiny eyelets from about 10 years ago when I started to Scrap but still had no idea how to use them LOL!
Then I remember that my dad had bought me this hideous looking contraption with these large eyelets and I have never opened the packet. Of course I couldn't find it now I was looking for it. So, off I trot to Dad. After a search in the garage, we found them! I then had to practice with them to make sure I was doing it right.
My creativeness certainly wasn't at full when I made this card. The eyelets got popped in the corners of the card and that was as adventurous as I got ;)
Here is my card -

I have used some brand new Festival of Prints DSP. The sentiment is from my Sassy Salutations set. Very basic, I am afraid but the word "Eyelet" must have got me all mushy brained lol.

JAI #136 - For the kids

Hi there, I have another entry for the challenge over at Just Add Ink.
My first entry was the lolly box that I will be making for all my nieces and nephews for Halloween. I decided that I had to make them a card each too. Here is the first one I have made -

The black panel was created with Basic Black Cardstock stamped with Whisper White ink using my Wicked Cool set and my stamp-a-ma-jig.
I have used my Inspired by Stamping sets for the pumpkin, spiders, cat and sentiment. I thought the googly eyes were the cherry on top, LOL.

CASual Fridays - Fall Fun

I know, I know but I couldn't help myself.
I seemed to be on a bit of a roll today so I just haven't stopped. And, considering it is Spring here I am actually loving these "Autumn" challenges.
I'm very lucky where I live as we only really get about 6 weeks of winter per year. Autumn isn't really a season you see in the northern parts of Australia. When I lived in the southern part of the country, the change of season into Autumn was just amazing. I do miss that but not the cold lol. We really only get Spring and Summer here.
I wanted to enter CASual Fridays challenge so this is what I came up with -

I have used my new set from Inspired by Stamping. I have stamped onto Watercolour paper. Masking the first pumpkin with a post-it note, I then stamped the other two. Using my Stampin' Markers (So Saffron, More Mustard & Pumpkin Pie) and a blender pen I have coloured pretty 'hard' onto the paper to give the pumpkins that roughish look. I then used Glossy Accents all over them to give them a bit of shine. I cut them out then popped them up onto foam squares. The autumn leaves are also on foam squares. The cardstock I have used are Basic Black and Very Vanilla. The sentiment is from my Loads of Love Accessory set.

IBSIC - Colour Inspiration (Entry #2)

I couldn't resist but get another entry in at Inspired By Stamping.
I have used the colours from the Inspiration Photo and made an Anniversary Card this time.

Now don't laugh at my little flowers 'cause I made them myself. I used a new Scalloped Rolled Die and used Very Vanilla to make up a flower. I then used the die again and starting wrapping the Tangerine Tango to make an outer colour. The same said for the other flower but using More Mustard and Real Red. I have added some beautiful Victorian Lace (IBS) and the sentiment is also IBS which has been secured with mini silver brads.

I have also embossed a More Mustard panel with my Vintage Wallpaper folder.

Thanks for looking xx

IBSIC #27 & JAI #136

After a very humid morning, the clouds are getting darker and I think we are going to get a nice storm this afternoon. It's been a lovely day to do craft especially when my mail came a little earlier than usual and I had a wonderful package arrive from Joanne over at Inspired By Stamping.

Over at Inspired by Stamping there is a colour inspiration challenge. At Just Add Ink you need to make something for kids.
I have actually chosen to make a gift today. Even though we don't celebrate Halloween here in Australia, each year more and more kids do the whole trick 'n treating routine. Last year my 7 neices and nephews all did it and got dressed up to the hilt. So, I decided that instead of being a Halloween scrooge, I would make them up some little lolly boxes using my Simply Scored.

Now, I got a bit gung ho with this one and didn't take photos as I was going. The inside of the box has 3 compartments which I will pop in black jellybeans (Bat Droppings) and other suspicious looking treats ;) The lid really should have been made using a clear window sheet or something similar but all I had was some vellum. It worked really well but you can't see inside the box very well.

I have used the following colours for papers etc - Tangerine Tango, Pumpkin Pie, Very Vanilla and Real Red. All the stamps are from Inspired By Stamping. I love the sayings on these stamps - for example "Toxic Tonic, Fur of Werewolf & Voodoo Potion" to name just a few. My neices and nephews who range from 9 years old and down are going to love these!! (Now, I have to make another 6!!).

Now, I am off to make another card using these colours as inspiration!

Less Is More - Oval

Just a quick post for me today.
Using my Loads of Love set, I have created a card for the latest challenge over at Less Is More. The requirement was to use an oval in your project.
I have coloured the image with Stampin' Write markers and a blender pen. I wrapped some hemp twine around the panels and then attached the sentiment (from the same set).
Here is my card -

Addicted to Stamps - "BINGO"!!!!!!

Another week gone by... phew. Time flies when you are having fun!

Our latest challenge at Addicted to Stamps is

Wooooo hoooooooooooo! Now here is the Bingo Card for you to work with -

Once you have chosen which LINE you would like to play - off you go and make your project.

Here is my card using the line SCORE / FREE / PURPLE. For my freebie I used Embossing.

Here is my card -

Now, this is one of THOSE cards that was an accident but in the end I was actually happy with the end result. When I chose 'Score' from the Bingo Card, I decided I would try and work out how to make flowers on my Simply Scored. Well, these are my flowers that ended up as fans lol. I didn't really mind how they looked. It even gave my card that oriental sort of feel. The embossed panel was created with my Chic circle folder and the sentiment was stamped with my new Sassy Salutations set.

Hop on over to the challenge and have a look at the awe-inspiring design team creations.

Ohhhhh, by the way! There is a DT call going on over there RIGHT NOW!! Just put DT next to your name when you link up.

Crafty Cardmakers (CCM) Challenge #75 - Stitching and Lace

I'm just a little bit excited abou this post! Why, you may ask? Well, let me explain! :)
I applied to be on the Design Team of this awesome challenge blog and guess what?? Yep, they liked me enough to ask me to join their team. There is a great bunch of members at this blog and they really do come up with some exciting and inspirational pieces.

I am really looking forward to future challenges but for now, this is my first ever post as a Design Team member over at Crafty Cardmakers!!

Hosted by Lin, she would like to see some stitching, either hand, machine or faux on your project as WELL as some lace, real NOT faux. There is an added twist of using a sewing related image or stamp, if you have one, but it is not a requirement.

Here is my card -

Using my Mat Pack and Paper-piercing tool on the white and blue panels gave me a template to hand-stitch with kitchen string (yes, kitchen string!!) I have used my lovely Apothecary Stamp set for the centrepeice (which has a tiny little stitch like outline). A cute flower up in the corner and then finished off with the blue grosgrain ribbon and lace.

Now, sewing really is not my forte! Thank goodness for my paper-piercing set. Couldn't have done without it. Next time I might even get the sewing machine out lol.

The challenge has a wonderful sponsor -

with this fabulous prize

See you over at the Challenge!!!!

CSAYL - Snowy!

I know, I know. Another post?
You will laugh though! When will I ever learn?? Glitter is EVIL!! I used my Dazzling Diamonds glitter on this card and, yes, we will surely be having glitter for dinner tonight! How does it get everywhere??

Anyway, over at Christmas Stampin' All Year Long (CSAYL), the theme for their latest challenge is - SNOWY!

I decided to use some snowflake dies that I haven't used before and glitter them up. Please read above to find out how I feel about this now...
I have embossed the Pacific Point cardstock with my Merry Christmas folder and added dimensionals to the corner snowflakes to give them a bit of a lift. The sentiment is from my Petite Pairs set.

Here is my card -

Hop over to CSAYL to join in the fun!!

CASology - SKY

Happy Saturday everyone! I hope today finds you well :)

Today I have made a card for one of my favourite challenges. I have been trying to get ahead on my DT commitments so I haven't really been looking at the challenges lately. So, I decided, today I would start on a couple and this being the first.

The code word at CASology is SKY.

I started off with Tempting Turquoise cardstock and used my sponge with Whisper White ink to create a cloud effect. I've used the birds and sentiment from my Up, Up and Away set. Both have been inked with Chocolate Chip. The base panel is Pacific Point cardstock which has been embossed with my Swiss Dots folder. I haven't used this sentiment before and thought it is quite sweet.

Here is my card -

There is still time to play at CASology. Just click the image below to join in the fun.

Make My Monday - Vintage Wedding

I received a package today full of crafting goodies. While unpacking I realised that I had some perfect additions to my collection which would make for a good Vintage card. I LOVE it when a plan comes together lol (intentional or not!)

Well, the theme over at MMM is Vintage Wedding. The DT have come up with some amazing and very classy creations.

I decided to go with Whisper White and Very Vanilla Cardstock. I embossed the Very Vanilla Panel with my new Vintage Wallpaper folder (how about that!). I used my new Chic Circle Frame (which is just way too cute) on Whisper White cardstock and then mounted a photo I found on the internet. I inked the edges of this panel with Vintage Photo.
Today I also received the Victoria Crochet Trim. It's so lovely! I mounted that onto a piece of Whisper White (edges inked with Vintage Photo) which I used my Eyelet Border punch on the edge.

I then added pearls to the centre of the flowers on the embossed Vintage Wallper and a string of pearls on the Crochet Trim. Some pretty flowers up the top and finished!

Addicted to Stamps - Make your Mark!!!

Well hello there everyone! Today we have another challenge over at Addicted to Stamps.
We are up to another "Make your Mark" Challenge which means you need to create something as long as you use markers (Stampin' Write, Copics etc).

My card is pretty basic but it was fun to make.
I used my Painted Posy stamp set (a two step set)- and used markers to colour directly on the stamp and then using my stamp-a-ma-jig to place them in the circle (which is blender paper). I added a pearl centre to each of the flowers.

Here is my card -

I really like how the colours turned out. The main image was stamped with a lighter colour and then the outline with a darker colour.
The colours I have used are - Wild Wasabi/Garden Green, Marina Mist/Pacific Point, So Saffron/More Mustard, Melon Mambo/Rich Razzleberry.

Hop over to the Addicted to Stamps challenge blog and see what the Design Team have come up with for your viewing pleasure!!

IBSIC #25 & Simply Stampin' Sketch Week

I'm feeling a bit under the weather today. Blah. The last thing I really felt like doing was sit down and make something. I then thought, bugger it! It's probably good medicine!!
I am entering into two challenges today.
The first one is an Inspiration Photo at Inspired By Stamping
Here is my card -

IBSIC #25
The other challenge is the Sketch Challenge at Simply Stampin'.

CCM, Technique Tuesday & CAS-ual Fridays

How are we all? I guess you've had a big Saturday already (like me) or are probably just about to start yours. Today I have made a card for three challenges.

Crafty Cardmakers - this is my second card for Winged Things
Technique Tuesday - also my second card for the Faux Leather challenge
CAS-ual Fridays - Embossing (Dry, Wet or Both)

I have made a panel by tearing bits of masking tape and placing them every which way. I have then used my brayer this time instead of a sponge. Using Concord Crush and Real Red with my brayer, I applied the colour. I then covered the whole panel with clear embossing powder and used my heat gun. The effect is a really shiny look that is fabulous!
I have then used my Butterfly Embosslit folder with Brushed Gold cardstock to create my little butterflies.
I was going to put a sentiment as well but decided to stop. I really wanted the Faux Leather look to be a focal point, while using the Gold Butterflies to draw the eye.

Thanks so much for looking xx

The Paper Players & Crafty Cardmakers

Good evening, or morning where ever you may be.

Tonight I am entering this card into two challenges.

The Paper Players - they would like you to use trees or leaves (the leaves are on my flowers)
and
Crafty Cardmakers - Marie has chosen the theme which is to use Winged Things.

Check out what the Design Teams came up with - Bee-you-ti-ful!!!

My stamp is called Ladybug Nora who is a Swiss Pixie from C.C Designs. Can you see her cute little wings? I have also used the Stone Wall from this collection. I have stamped Nora first then used a mask and my Stamp-a-ma-jig to place and stamp the wall. The butterflies add a nice little winged touch :)

I have stamped onto Watercolour paper and have used my Stampin' Write Markers and a blender pen. I scribble the markers onto a plate and then pick up the colour with the blender pen. Because I am impatient, I have used my heat gun between layers of colour.

The colours I have used are : Melon Mambo, Crumb Cake, Basic Gray, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Blush Blossom and Real Red.
I have also sponged the background with Bashful Blue but it doesn't really show in this photo.

I have added stickles to the ladybug and Nora's wings (Gunmetal & Diamond)

Thanks so much for looking xx

Wednesday 5 September 2012

Yep! Another go at a Vintage card..

As soon as I saw Mynette's post for Technique Tuesday, I just knew I had to give it a go. I really wanted to try another Vintage card for the Make My Monday challenge and thought that this Faux Leather look would be awesome! Thanks, Mynette! (By the way, I made a special trip to the shop to get masking tape because I couldn't find mine anywhere!!)
Ok, here is my card. I found this image on the internet. I made the Faux Leather Panel first and then started layering cardstock behind it. I decided that the black ribbon was ideal and then popped on a metal embellishment with the word "Memories" on it.

How awesome is that Faux Leather look. Using Masking tape.... You have to check out the tutorial. I hope you can see the effect ok. It looks terrific on my end ;)

Addicted to Stamps - Sketch Challenge #2

Hello there! Did everyone get a sneak peek of the sketch? I hope so!
The next exciting part of the challenge is that you get to see what the DT came up with.
My card was put together VERY quickly, I must admit. I have been pretty busy with the Fire Brigade and have had limited time.
I have used my Up, Up and Away set for this one to create a little birthday card. Very simple and easy. The colours I used on my stamps were Melon Mambo and Pacific Point.
Now, hop over to Addicted to Stamps for this Sketch challenge and a little surprise too.....
Here is the Sketch (click on it to take you to the challenge)

MMM - Vintage Fashion Challenge

Hi there. I saw the DT samples and I was blown away. Head over to Make My Monday and check it out! The next thought I had was, oh dear, I have never done Vintage on a card before but really wanted to give it a go. Having nothing Vintage in the way of stamps, I hopped on the internet to look at some Vintage photos.
I saw a few that I liked but this one really took my fancy. This is a postcard of a 1920's French Bride. Sigh, they look so in love and have just got married. I wonder what happened in the course of their lives. I love where her groom's hands are placed and the look on her face just tells the story.
Here is my card -

Now, this may have not photographed the best as it's not in natural light.
I have mounted the photo onto Whisper White CS and then inked the edges with Vintage Photo ink. I have also done this to the blue base panel and the circles and used it for the sentiment. I have also used Whisper White satin ribbon with a layering of blue lace ribbon. The papers in the top right hand corner have a button tied on with hemp twine. Three pearls were added in the bottom left hand corner. I have also used a crystal pin through the circles with the sentiment.

This is going to be my first attempt because I'm hoping I will get better at this technique.

JAI #133 - So Grateful

Hi there, how are you all?? I have made a card today that is to enter into the challenge at Just Add Ink. They would like you to add mustard and metal.

I have embossed two of my panels - one with Swiss Dots and one with Lattice. I have used my So Mustard Stampin' Write marker to create my faux stiching. A doily die was used with my DSP.

The sentiment is from my Apothecary Set and is set behind a metal frame. The butterfly was from my Embosslit folder. A couple of flowers and a couple of pearls and done!
