Watercoloured Forest

Hi everyone! I've had a quick play tonight. I seem to be crafting more when the sun goes down as it is so stinking hot here at the moment. We even have an extreme weather alert for the next few days. High heat and humidity - not a nice combo. So, once the sun goes down and I have the ceiling fan on full ball (not good when trying to emboss...), it makes it a little bearable to do things.

Tonight I played with my new Zigs again - I call this 'Getting Ziggy with it'. I chose to combine my HLS Christmas Joy set with the Thinking of You set but not to create a Christmas card.

Please excuse the photo but it is night time :)
I started by stamping my trees (masking as I went). I used drawing gum to mask the trees again so I could add a blue wash to the background. Once dry, I coloured the trees with my Zig pens and then added more blue straight from the pen to darken some of the areas. So much fun!

Doodled Flowers with new Zigs!

Hi everyone. I had some fun yesterday after receiving my new Zig Real Colour Watercolour pens. LOVE them!!

Here is my card -

I started by creating masks for my flowers and then stamping them with versafine ink and embossed with white powder. This is a very easy way to watercolour images as your ink doesn't go 'outside the lines'.

When I was finished, I covered the images with Wink of Stella.

Here is the set that I have used from Happy Little Stamers

Using the HLS Whimsical Friends set, I stamped the elephant, bird, and sentiment and coloured in the images. I added some sparkle with my WOS pen on the blanket and Miss Ellie's toenails.

Easy peasy!

Less Is More - Guest Designer

Hi everyone! Today I am excited to be joining the LIM girls with their new challenge - OMBRE. Happy Little Stampers is sponsoring for the month of January and Sarah was kind enough to offer me a Guest Designer spot :) Thanks for having me!

Here is my card -

I can't say that I have really tried ombre prior to making this card. I started by embossing my sentiments which are from the HLS Simply Said set. I then blended Broken China, Salty Ocean, and Faded Jeans Distress Inks from top to bottom to create the ombre look. I sprayed a little water into my hand and flicked it onto the panel. I've never done that before either! I have seen this technique with the distress inks and flicked water for years so I am glad that I have finally done it!

See you over at Less Is More!

HLS January CAS Challenge

Hello again. I hope the New Year has started off well for you :)

Today we have our CAS challenge over at Happy Little Stampers, yay!

We would like you to use a stencil on your CAS projects.

Here is my card -

I created a background using brushos and a stencil. I stamped my bus from the HLS Wish you were Here set and fussy cut it out. I created a road with black card and a white pen.

I hope to see you over at the challenge blog!

HLS January Watercolour Challenge

Hello! Happy New Year!!!! I hope you have had a wonderful Christmas and are now ready to kick off 2017 :)

Today is the start of the brand new challenge over at Happy Little Stampers! It is our watercolour challenge. We are very excited about this one. It has been months in the making and we also have new designers joining our team. You can see all the details over at the HLS blog.

Our theme for January is

Anything Goes! That's right - just make sure you use watercolouring or a watercolouring technique on your entry. You also have the option to use a stencil.

I have made two cards both with our optional twist.

My first card was created by using the Brusho and Stencil technique and watercolour paper. I LOVE doing this.

The stamps I have used are from the HLS Wish you were Here set.

Once I had finished, I mixed Gold Perfect Pearls with some water and used a brush to create some splats.

My next card uses the stencil flipped over and pressed onto normal cardstock. It gives your background a more subtle look but still so pretty.

I die cut my sentiment using gold card. There are a few little touches of Perfect Pearls on this one too.

Here is my video tutorial on how to create these types of backgrounds. I made about 10 while doing these cards and save them for later.

There are also a LOT of video tutorials over at HLS if you need some help with ideas.

I hope to see you playing along.

We are also very lucky to have Barb as our Guest Designer for this month's challenge. Make sure you stop by and say hello to her as well!

Thanks for coming by and I will see you over at the challenge blog :)
